COVID-19 Update Numbers
10-12-2020
Here are today’s statistics regarding COVID-19 at Adena Schools. Please be sure you are as careful as you can be if you are out in the public during the next few weeks. We will do our best to keep in-person learning operational. It is good news today that we have NO active student cases. Unfortunately, our quarantine list has grown a bit as students are exposed to people who have active cases but are not students at the school. We shared a really good question and answer document from the Ross County Health Department that is worth your while to read. Have a great day. Stay safe!

Dear Adena Schools Community,
Thank you for your tremendous effort to bring our students back to school this year. As you know, we have opted to bring students back for full attendance with as much social distancing and safety protocols as possible with a remote learning program for students who wish to stay away from the larger crowds found in school. During the first month of school things have gone well. With the arrival of October, we have a spike developing in the county. Ross County is currently elevated to orange status and could be headed to red status in a relatively short time frame.
The Ross County Health Department conducted a conference call with area school systems today. They have asked us to remain very vigilant and to reinforce the importance of avoiding large crowds, maintaining social distancing and observing handwashing protocols. If community spread accelerates we will have no choice but to curtail in-person learning and resume remote learning to curtail the spread of the virus and avoid overwhelming the local healthcare system.
I am confident we can pull together and do what needs to be done in order to lower the numbers to put us back in yellow status.
The students are doing a great job handling school. Masks are being worn, space is being maintained and hand sanitizer is widely available and being used. Unfortunately, we have a total of nine students in quarantine, three of which are active cases of COVID-19. These quarantines are a result of coming into contact with family members or people outside the realm of school who have tested positive.
Although it is tiring and frustrating to endure these many long months of COVID-19 precautions and mandates, we are getting closer to the time when a vaccine will be available and we can possibly ease up a bit on what we now call the “new normal.” Please help us keep school open as a safe place for our students to come together for their education and social emotional health. Stay home. Find entertaining things to do as a family. Be careful going out to the workplace or stores. Remember the safety precautions and follow them. For the sake of our kids we can do this. We can survive a few more months of extra precautions and fewer social gatherings/activities that can resume when we can safely come together once again.
The staff of Adena Local Schools thanks you for your care and concern as well as your continued support. We can get our children through this safely and teach them many important lessons along the way. Together, Warrior strong, we can do what it takes to keep our kids in school and progressing while the world finds its way through this situation. Stay well and be strong. Thank you for your commitment to our children as a community and the Warrior Nation.

Good Evening this is Dustin England, Adena Middle School Principal, with an important announcement regarding all 7th grade students and their vaccination records. A state law requires a specific set of vaccinations for students entering the 7th grade. If your child has had the vaccinations we need a copy of the vaccinations on record here at school. You can contact your child’s care provider and have them fax the records to 740-998-2317, you can upload the up-to-date shot records to Final Forms, or you can send in a copy with your child and have them turn it into the Middle School office. If your child has not received the vaccinations they need to do so immediately. We need to have the records by Friday, October 2nd, 2020. If you have any questions please call the MS office at 740-998-2313. Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
From Adena Schools Food Service
Hello,
Next week we would like to begin adding some hot meals and a-la-carte items in the cafeteria. Remember, everyone can receive free lunch and breakfast at this time. We do want to let everyone know that students can only eat one lunch and breakfast free each day and then additional food has to be purchased. We hope to be in full production with hot meals very soon and are working hard to provide students with the foods they have come to enjoy. Thanks for your patience and understanding during this very challenging year!
Tonyia Hyland,
Food Service Supervisor
Dear Adena Parents and Guardians,
Please see the notice of a positive case of COVID-19 in the school posted here. In the interest of transparency and safety we want everyone to be aware that COVID-19 is still present in the community and we need to continue to exercise caution and adhere to safety protocols to give our students the best possible chance to have in-person schooling and the benefits that come with it. Our students and staff are doing a fantastic job managing the requirements of in-person learning. We ask the entire community to continue to take care, be safe and avoid unnecessary risks whenever possible. Thank you for your continued support. (Please click on the link below)
